Then this FSRH certified SRH Essentials in Primary Care course is for you.

SRH Essentials for Primary Care is a one day course delivered online by our FSRH approved facilitators, helping you to develop the skills and confidence to consult with patients about their sexual and reproductive healthcare needs.

The SRH Essentials Course is aimed specifically at healthcare practitioners working in primary care settings. It provides an interactive day with scenario based learning, presentations, time for discussion and questions. It is relevant for those needing an introduction to SRH and also provides a useful update for more experienced staff. SRH Essentials is not a competency based course and it is not assessed.

The course consists of 3 main topic areas:

  • Emergency Contraception

  • Other methods of contraception

  • STIs

Entry Requirements

To be eligible to register on an Essentials course, you must be:

  1. Consulting with individuals on Contraception
    AND

  2. Seeking to gain basic or update current knowledge in the area

At the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Develop the skills and confidence to consult with patients about their sexual and reproductive healthcare needs

  • Recommend an appropriate method of emergency contraception

  • Review the COC, POP and injection contraceptive methods

  • Carry out sexual health risk assessments

  • Identify when patients are at risk of STIs

Then this FSRH certified Essentials of Menopause Care course is designed for you.

Essentials of Menopause Care is an online half-day course delivered by our FSRH approved facilitators to help you develop the skills and confidence to consult with patients about menopause and their care needs.

The Essentials of Menopause Care course is aimed specifically at those providing Menopause Care in primary care settings. It provides an interactive half-day with scenario-based learning, quizzes, presentations, time for discussion and questions.

This course is relevant for Menopause Care providers needing an introduction and provides a useful update for more experienced staff. Courses are delivered online. Essentials of Menopause Care is not a competency-based course, and it is not assessed.

At the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Assess women presenting with perimenopausal/menopausal symptoms

  • Outline the non-hormonal management options for these symptoms

  • Explain the risks and benefits of HRT

  • Explain how to use the different HRT preparations that are available

  • Explain the management of genitourinary syndrome of the menopause

  • Discuss the contraceptive needs of perimenopausal women and how these can be met

  • Describe the needs of women who have had premature ovarian insufficiency

Attendees will be provided with an FSRH workbook, which contains supporting documents for use on the day and for future reference.

Attendees will receive an FSRH Certificate of Attendance following the course.

Essential Contraception following Childbirth is an online half day course delivered by our FSRH approved facilitators to help you develop the skills and confidence to consult with patients about contraception.

This course is aimed specifically for healthcare professionals who provide care following childbirth. It provides an interactive day with scenario based learning, presentations, time for discussion, questions and role play.

It is relevant for all practitioners working with patients following birth, who need an introduction to Contraception and provides a useful update for more experienced staff. This course benefits from being delivered in multi-disciplinary groups, where practitioners can learn from one another. It is delivered in a variety of locations across the UK, as well as online. Essential Contraception following Childbirth is not a competency based course and it is not assessed.

At the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Describe the currently available contraceptive methods

  • Discuss the main advantages and disadvantages of these contraceptive methods

  • Identify contraindications to contraceptive methods by using the UKMEC

  • Understand when contraception can be started after pregnancy

  • Introduce contraception into consultations with pregnant and recently delivered women

  • Understand the use of “Bridging Contraception”

It is relevant for abortion care providers requiring an introduction to contraception and also provides a useful update for more experienced staff. Courses are delivered in a variety of locations across the UK. The course is not competency-based and it is not assessed.

At the end of the course, you will be able to:
